Uh, in most situations that'd be a maybe, at best.

If the facts do not support what you propose to be the "truth," then you're likely going to look stupid. If I were to say that the truth about cigarettes is that they make you look cool, well, that is kinda true, but how cool do you look when you're hacking up your lung every morning? (Okay, that may not have been the best example.)

One area where truth does have the ability to trump facts, however, is in religion. What people believe to be the truth about God is not normally based on Scientific fact. It's simply a matter of faith... which is a totally different topic then fact versus truth.
